(a poem by Gustavo Adolfo Becquer)
¿Qué Es Poesía?
¿Qué es poesía?, dices mientras clavas
En mi pupila tu pupila azul.
¡Qué es poesía! ¿Y tú me lo preguntas?
Poesía eres tú.
~~~~~~~~~o~o~o~o~o~o~~~~~~~
(Loose translation)
What is poetry? whisper your lips
while you stare into my soul.
What is poetry! And you ask me?
Poetry is all of you.
From ‘The Crazy Colombian’:
this is one of my most visited posts, yet no one has made a comment. Why could that be?
I love this poem. It is so simple, yet so stunningly beautiful. I hope you liked my translation.
I first heard this poem while driving in the car with my father, he was yelling at me about something, I wasnt really paying much attention to him as always, and then he said this… and it was the most beautiful thing i had ever heard. It has stuck with me for many years.
