Who is ‘The Crazy Colombian’?

Introducing ‘The Crazy Colombian’

Hello; I am Diego, The Crazy Colombian, and I write ‘Reflections of a Crazy Colombian’ (ROACC for short), a brain gym for intellectually curious people. If you like learning about new technologies , alternative cultural choices, or simply enjoy challenging your current views, you have come to the right place. If

this is your first time here, you may want to visit our ‘Best of’ page (link), or head over to the Archives (link).

Read ‘Reflections of a Crazy Colombian’ and give your brain a workout!

ROACC covers a wide range of topics, from philosophy to poetry; from the Environment to Personal Development. We regularly review books that offer challenging and alternative thoughts; assess YouTube videos that, when looked from a different angle, teach us a new and valuable lesson; and make editorial commentary on provoking posts by other publishers (both on the internet and in traditional media)

The ‘Crazy Colombian’ : An explorer of life, the universe, and everything else

You may be wondering what kind of experiences are shaping the reflections on this web site, so I am going to share some of my background with you.

I am a generalist, in the broadest interpretation of the word. I have tried many sports including soccer, squash, tennis, golf, swimming, bicycle riding, basketball, volleyball, water-ski, hockey, badminton, and many more I can’t remember. I have written fiction, poetry, magazine articles, and short stories.I have worked in a variety of roles, including Sales, IT, Marketing, and Strategy Consulting.

With a Bachelor of Engineering from one of Colombia’s most prestigious Universities; and an MBA from Asutralia’s top Graduate School of Management (AGSM), I have a deep connection to academia. Balance that with work experience across Asia, Latin America , Europe and Oceania, and you will start appreciating the diversity of perspectives to which I have been exposed.

I love going head-to-head with commonly held views, and looking for meaning behind the obvious. The wide range of experiences I’ve had often puts me in the right position to make connections that are unusual and not obvious to many people. I consider myself an explorer of life, the universe, and everything else; and go through life as if it was an exploration, a journey into the unkown.

Want to know more about me?

On my spare time I enjoy reading fiction, non-fiction, serious literature, and popular thrillers. And I like to reflect on life. Engage on serious and silly discussions. Savour life.
(yes, that is savour with an ‘ou’ instead of an ‘o’, as in “I-live-in-Australia-and-use-the-English-style-of-spelling”). Of course, these activities come second to me spending some quality time with my wife and my 2 young sons.

Below are some additional ‘Vital Stats’ in case you want to know that
little extra about myself:

Born: 1969
Place of Birth: Bogota, Colombia
Current Residence:
Sydney, Australia

Me parece cheverísimo que se aventure a hacer un blog de esta naturaleza, y me queda claro que no podría ser sino Ud. quien lo haga. Como siempre, dueño de un coraje y de una propensión al riesgo envidiables. Lo felicito.

This comment was made by a long-life friend who now lives in Geneva. I met Miguel at University, and is one of those close friends who has a special place in my heart. Thanks, M, for finding me again and for your comments in my blog.

I think it’s really cool that you embarked on the adventure of writing a blog of this type, and it is very clear that this could only be you writing. As usual, you displayed some great courage and a propensity to risk that are admirable.

    Congratulations. M

    Hi Diego,

Earlier today I saw that my wife was reading one of your posts. I believe it was your post on the evening with Dan Millman.
She came across your blog by doing a search on Google.

While she was reading it, she made a comment to me suggesting that I read it too and gave me no further details. Hours later when I finally decided to sit in front of the PC and read your blog I became fascinated by it.

First of all, your blog is somewhat inspiring to me. I have always been mildly interested in starting a blog, but being such a generalist myself I’ve never known where to start. My intention has always been to ignite people’s curiosity and challenge them to see life in a way that would help them to live more balanced and peaceful lives. Also to make them aware of information that wouldn’t usually be made available through the mainstream media.

Furthermore, I found that we seem to have a few other things in common:

    - We’re both from Latin America. I came to Australia 7 years ago. I was born and bred (as they say here in Oz) in the Dominican Republic. So we’re both “latinos” and Spanish-speakers.

    - I too attended the Peaceful Warrior evening with Dan Millman, and realised that if I had also been to the workshop I would have most certainly met you.

To end this comment I will add that your blog seems to be filled with many interesting posts and I will surely be commenting on some of those in the near future. I merely wanted to introduce myself today.

I didn’t write this comment in Spanish as I gather that most of your readers are only fluent in The Bard’s language and thought I would save you the trouble of translating all this.

Congratulations on a wonderful blog and all the very best.

Until you hear from me again… which will be soon…

Se despide con un saludo cordial,
    Gibran

    Gday `you crazy south american`

Love your work here bros.. your involved, crazy, provocotive and encouraging all rolled into one, well done.

Most likely crazy enough to make a good firefighter. After all why run into a building other people run out of?

    Hi Dean,

thanks for the words of encouragement bros. I am crazy, all right, but not sure I am crazy enough to be a firefighter. Then again, put under the right circumstances (eg. my house near a bushfire, family inside…) I probably would be crazy enough to run in. :-)

Again, thanks for dropping by, and for your words of encouragement. Which article did you like best?

You are absolutely awesome and thankyou for pushing me gently forward to face my fear. You are a sweet, generous and inspiring person …….wish more people were as crazy as you!……….I hope to see you again soon, Elise.
Hey by the way, I was at the same Michael Buble concert! I love him and am inspired by his way with people.

    DIEGO’s RESPONSE:
Hello Elise, what a lovely surprise to see you paid us a visit! I was delighted to give you that ‘nudge’ at yesterday’s seminar towards participating in the exercise. I was very proud of your demonstration of courage in the face of quite a significant amount of fear. Well done!!

If you haven’t done it already, you may want to check the Peaceful Warrior Series; I believe you will find some useful knowledge in that series of articles, and enjoy it as much as you enjoyed the Michael Buble series. Click here to visit the Peaceful Warrior series.

Thanks also for your comments about the Michael Buble article series. I was very happy to hear that you too are a Michael Buble fan, and that like me, you were inspired by his talents with people. There is a lot that we all can learn from him, isn’t there?
