Image: Give us this day… by Mr. Kris
I originally started this page because my birthday & Christmas were just around a corner, and many of my friends / family (especially those that were overseas) started asking which presents to get me. Because of the geographic distance, I compiled a list of books, CDs, DVDs and a few other things that could be purchased on-line. Christmas came and went; I got some wonderful presents; yet the page remained on my web site.
Then I had an idea.
Many of you have told me you enjoy my writing. Some have asked how you can show your appreciation. Below I explain a number of ways that you can do just that.
First – Make a present (on my behalf) to someone in need
This is my preference if you are going to spend money supporting my writing, as it is in line with my philosophy of Passing Kindness Forward. I have 2 suggestions on how you can perform an act of Kindness on my behalf:
- Go to WorldVision Smile’s program and choose from their catalogue of charitable contributions. After you make the donation, WorldVision will send me a card informing me of your gift. Some examples of what ou can get through the Smiles program include:
- A contribution of $20 towards the immunisation program of children living in the world’s most vulnerable communities (via Pro
- A contribution of $25 towards protecting children from life-threatening diseases, (via Worldvision’s Smiles program)
- A contribution of $57 towards helping change lives and the environment(via Worldvision’s Smiles program)
- Go to or Karma Currency, and send me a karma voucher; I will then be informed of your gift, and will be then allowed to go into their catalogue of charities to choose one as the recipient of your generous donation.
Second – Send me a gift
You could also choose from what was not purchased by friends and family from the original list ; I tried giving a wide range of prices, to make it easier for you to find something you can afford. Below is the list, broken by price range (Under $30, $20 to $50, and over $50)
UNDER $30
- Send some money towards a new ‘Casio Exilim V7′ camera I will get from Inee (you can send via Paypal to my email address, )
- “Seven Habits of Highly Effective people” ebook in Microsoft Reader format. Purchase from ebooks.com (US$10)
- “The Power of Story” book by Jom Loehr; I prefer in electronic format so I can ‘read on the go; you can buy as ebook from eBooks (US$17)
- CD: Googol On, by Googol Press. Purchase songs from this album as MP3 from their online store (US$0.99 per song)
- Book: “Buddha or Bust” by Perry Garfinkel. Buy it from Adyar Bookstore (AU$28 + S&H)
$20 to $50
- DVD: “The peaceful warrior workout” DVD. Purchase it from Dan Millman’s online store (US$39.95 + S&H)
- Book: ‘Weight Loss for Food lovers’. Purchase it from Dymocks online or at any of their stores : $30 (plus S&H if purchased online)
OVER $50
- Get me a Gift Voucher for a Traditional Balinese massage therapy for 1 hour ($96.60)
- Send me some money towards a new ‘Casio Exilim V7′ camera I will get from Inee (The camera was $350; you can send via Paypal to my email address publicdv@gmail.com)
- Li’l Gym – find out from its’ inventor where to purchase from, or call local exercise equipment retailers near you (I have no idea how much it will be, but I guess around $200)
Third – Send me some cash
You can also just send me a cash donation to contribute towards the costs of hosting this web site (which I pay out of my own pocket). The easiest way to send a donation is via Paypal on my email address TheCrazyColombian@gmail.com
Fourth – Click on our Sponsor Ads
On the side bar, at the bottom, you will find some sponsored ads. Go ahead, click on them and check their offers our. Even better, become A sponsor yourself! Want to advertise on this site? Send me an email at TheCrazyColombian@gmail.com.
Please Note: At present we have no paid advertisement in the site, but have a few organisations we like supporting. Clicking on any ads at this stage will not generate any advertisement revenue for us.
Fifth – Buy yourself a book at Amazon.com
In many of my book reviews I have included n ‘affiliate link’ to the book at Amazon.com. Every time you buy a book using this link, I will get a small commission from your purchase. So go ahead, get yourself a present from Amazon.com and you will also be contributing some money to cover the hosting costs of this web site.
Why should I do it?
If you’re still unsure about whether you should support this blog or not, the list below may help you decide. Let me make things crystal clear: I am perfectly happy for you to continue reading my articles for free, without donating any money to me or charities. The list below is not meant to convince you to donate, but rather to give you a better sense of what you will achieve should you decide to support my writing.
So if you will get the content for free, whether you donate or not, why should you do it? Here’s a Top 5 list:
- If you like the content and find it valuable, you can give back a little for the time I’ve put into this site.
- The site will continue to be hosted with a reputable company. This means you will continue to get access to the articles instantly and in a speedy manner.
- You are helping my family pay our bills, and my quest for debt elimination.
- If I get some cash donations, I may be able to invest some of it in having the site professionally redesigned. This will mean a more usable web site, and a nicer reading experience.
- You will receive the satisfaction of knowing that you have done something good today.
If you would like to receive these 5 benefits, your generous contribution will be appreciated. Just select which way you want to give back (or forward, depending on your choice) and act now!
Thank you for considering the idea of giving back to support the writer of this blog!

Good to see you’re keeping up the slog (blog). I’ve gone off and done other things… which are proving profitable. You know there’s money to be made in this business… it’s out there
